Editor-in-Chief, Managing Automation

David R. Brousell has been Editor-in-Chief of Managing Automation since 1998. Brousell started his career in technology journalism in 1978 at Electronic News. In 1985, he joined Datamation Magazine, and was named Editor-in-Chief in 1991. Brousell has covered numerous industry developments, technology shifts and major product introductions, including the mainframe era and the development of relational databases; the rise of the minicomputer; the advent of personal computing, client-server computing and the evolution of enterprise applications, and the dawn of the Internet and the worldwide web. Along the way, he has interviewed such notables as ENIAC inventor J. Presper Eckert, IBM's Thomas J. Watson Jr., Microsoft's Bill Gates, Oracle's Larry Ellison, Cincom's Tom Nies, Lotus's Mitchell Kapor, Netscape's James Barksdale, and Intel's Andrew Grove. Brousell has received numerous journalism awards, including two consecutive Jesse H. Neal Editorial Achievement Awards, the highest award for business journalism in the U.S. Under his leadership at MA, the magazine has been cited 9 times for editorial achievement.

Director of Supply Chain Management, Cooper-Standard Automotive

Mike Silvio is Director of Supply Chain Management for Cooper-Standard Automotive, based in Novi Michigan. Cooper-Standard is a leading manufacturer of fluid systems, sealing systems and NVH components for the automotive industry with sales exceeding $2.2 billion. Mike is also on faculty at Wayne State University and former President of the local Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) chapter. Michael has 17 years experience in Supply Chain Management Besides OEM and automotive tier one experience; he has worked in aftermarket and retail logistics. His experience also includes CDL training, forklift training, warehouse and inventory management. He was educated at Wayne State University with an Undergraduate degree in Logistics and an MBA in International business.

Kevin Piotrowski

Director of Industry and Product Marketing, Infor

Kevin Piotrowski is the Director of Industry and Product Marketing for the automotive vertical. In this role, Piotrowski focuses on maximizing growth and profit for Infor's automotive manufacturing market space for the Americas. Piotrowski is responsible for market research, product strategy, coordinating market and business plans, external Analyst and Press briefings and synchronizing efforts with the presales, sales, and product management teams. Kevin Piotrowski joined Infor Global Solutions in 2004 as the Director of Product Marketing for the North American and Asia/Pacific Automotive regions. Piotrowski comes to Infor from TradeBeam (formerly SupplySolution, Inc.) where, from 1999 - 2004, he was responsible for leading the product management team in the design, development, and rollout of the iSupply family of products. From 1985-1999, Piotrowski served in various roles within purchasing, materials management, product control, and Information Technology at Delphi Automotive Systems and General Motors Corporation. As a Senior Staff Assistant for Delphi Automotive Systems he was responsible for designing, testing and implementing SAP, QAD and various other legacy systems globally. Piotrowski earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Michigan and received his MBA from the Jesuit University of Detroit.

Simon Jacobson

Research Analyst, AMR Research, Inc.

As a research analyst, Simon is responsible for AMR Research's coverage of manufacturing operations. He is dedicated to analysis of how global manufacturers apply IT to their processes as part of their ongoing evolution toward becoming demand-driven. Simon specifically covers MES, quality management, and manufacturing compliance across the range of industries that AMR Research studies. He also covers mid-market Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Prior to his role as research analyst, Simon worked as the program manager for AMR Research's production operations group. In this position, he managed the team?s strategic client relationships, business development efforts, and research content to ensure that it properly reflected market trends and demands. Simon began his career at the company as a client research analyst. He managed relationships with clients within the MES, industrial automation, EMI, mid-market ERP, and quality management systems markets. He supported his client relationships by working with C-level and VP-level executives to review their business strategies and to determine their research needs. He also worked to create cross-functional synergies with AMR Research?s sales, marketing, and research departments. Simon earned his B.A. from the University of Vermont.
