Description
While many ERP systems claim to cater to the process manufacturing industry, a closer look reveals that in reality, little distinction is made within ERP applications to readily address the fundamental needs of a process versus a discrete manufacturer. Efforts to add process-industry specific functionality are often promised but not delivered. Even with system shortfalls; however, process manufacturers continue to purchase ERP systems that were initially designed for discrete manufacturing, only to learn that the system is not sufficient for process manufacturing, and attempts to modify it often prove lengthy and costly and frequently fail. As a result, users lose interest in the project and the implementation is unsuccessful.
Download this white paper and learn why it is absolutely critical for companies to select an ERP system that is designed for their industry (versus having to retrofit a discrete system for a process environment or vice versa).
