However, system functionality is only one aspect of a sound ERP investment. This paper provides manufacturers with an overview of what to look for when evaluating an ERP system for purchase. Less apparent attributes such as installed user base, customer retention and longevity of the technology are discussed. The paper highlights why functionality, while important, should be weighed against the backdrop of the entire ERP package, including its vendor.
