Symbol Technologies Inc. has expanded a reseller agreement with WhereNet Corp., a developer of wireless location technology, to deliver real-time asset location, tracking, and management in a single package.
The arrangement between the two companies will result in the integration of WhereNet's Spectrum24RTL (real-time location) System wireless location technology with Symbol's mobile and wireless products. The integration will provide real-time data about the location of various assets and make it possible to pinpoint a specific item or group of items anywhere in the supply chain from the assembly line to the retail shelf.
As a result, the companies said, business processes can be remodeled to accomplish previously impossible tasks like diverting shipments to new destinations while en route or narrowing a recall so no good product is collected with an affected product.
