Studies: U.S. Lags in Innovation Leadership

Two industry studies rank U.S. behind Singapore and other countries, and say policy changes are needed that support education, high-skills immigration, and other areas to step up U.S. competitiveness.

The United States fared relatively poorly in two recent studies on global innovation leadership.

In a study by the Boston Consulting Group, the National Association of Manufacturers, and The Manufacturing Institute, NAM’s research affiliate, released yesterday, the United States ranked eighth among 110 countries. The top three countries were Singapore, South Korea, and Switzerland.
