Sterling Commerce, one of the world's largest providers of business integration solutions and a subsidiary of SBC Communications Inc., has agreed to purchase Yantra Corp. for approximately $170 million. The transaction is expected to be completed by early 2005, but it is subject to regulatory review. Incorporating Yantra's supply chain fulfillment application suite into Sterling Commerce's Multi-Enterprise Services Architecture (MESA), which delivers end-to-end collaboration between organizations and their customers and business partners, will extend MESA's execution, visibility and control, according to Sterling Commerce. As a stand-alone business unit of Sterling, Yantra will be able to expand its position as a leading provider of industry-specific composite applications for multiple-enterprise supply chains, Yantra stated.
