New Data Synchronization Solution and Retail Compliance Kit Deliver Out-of-the-Box Compliance and Flexibility to Adjust to Changing Retailer Requirements
COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 6 /Sterling Commerce, the multi-enterprise collaboration company and AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) subsidiary, today announced availability of two solutions designed to help manufacturers drive higher margins by implementing more effective data synchronization and logistics compliance processes. The Sterling Commerce Global Data Synchronization Solution reduces the cost of dealing with non-standard data within the supply chain community. The Retail Compliance Kit, offered with the Sterling Networked Warehouse Management solution, widens already slim margins in the warehouse through pre-configured packing and shipping capabilities.
"Industry analysts estimate that charge-backs from retailers for missed shipments or inaccurate information can shave off as much as 10 percent of a manufacturer's total revenue," said Scott Pulsipher, vice president of product management at Sterling Commerce. "Trading partners increasingly rely on our solutions to maintain consistent information throughout their supply chain. It is our commitment to helping these companies stay current in this rapidly changing field that makes Sterling Commerce a leader in this industry."
The Sterling Commerce Global Data Synchronization Solution creates one version of the truth for global data synchronization (GDS), a retailer mandate to synchronize item data across today's multi-channel supply chains. The new version of the Sterling Commerce Global Data Synchronization Solution helps manufacturers:
-- Realize cost savings by entering item descriptions once and then electronically sharing them with multiple retailers through a new Attribute Value Pairs capability.
-- Comply with Lowe's data synchronization requirements by adding support for special attributes Lowe's has requested from its suppliers.
"More than one thousand suppliers working through Sterling Commerce have published item descriptions to 22 separate retailers via a variety of data pools, demonstrating the coverage and flexibility of our solutions," added Pulsipher. "Supporting the power of our solutions is a team of dedicated business analysts to help manufacturers implement these mandates efficiently and effectively."
The Retail Compliance Kit provides pre-configured compliance capabilities that enable suppliers to cost-effectively meet retailer mandates in the warehouse space, such as specific requirements on labeling, packing, parcel shipping, load consolidation, etc. In addition, it enables manufacturers to increase revenues by simplifying their ability to deliver value added services, such as security tagging, special packaging, and RFID "Slap and Ship."
The Retail Compliance Kit also helps manufacturers to cost-effectively meet current and changing retailer compliance requirements through:
-- Exception handling that helps manufacturers proactively identify and resolve non-compliance activities.
-- A standard Voluntary Inter-industry Commerce Standards (VICS) Association Bill of Lading that reduces implementation time.
-- Optimized routing activities, including support for routing guidelines based on the VICS standard.
