In a move to bolster its business process management offering, German infrastructure software firm Software AG said it plans to acquire Germany’s IDS Scheer for €477 million.
The deal would add Scheer’s ARIS product to Software AG’s BPM stable, which currently lacks design and modeling features. ARIS provides those functions. Software AG’s BPM line includes webMethods, which it acquired in 2007, and CentraSite, both of which provide BPM implementation and execution.
"Software AG and IDS Scheer complement each other perfectly,” Software AG CEO Karl-Heinz Streibich said in a statement. “Our expertise in business process management will be unique and will increase our competitiveness in this growth market.”
Analysts concurred. “It extends Software AG's BPM offering with tools addressing the needs of business analysts with leading, world-renowned products for enterprise architecture, business process analysis, and business performance management,” said Gartner analyst Massimo Pezzini.
