In a bid to boost its profile in the supplier relationship management (SRM) market, Siemens PLM Software today said it has entered into a partnership with global consulting and systems integration services provider Capgemini US LLC.

Capgemini, a $13.6 billion, Paris-based provider of consulting, outsourcing, and technology services, will provide industry-specific knowledge as well as systems integration and rapid implementation services to automotive, aerospace, CPG, machinery, and high tech manufacturers deploying Siemens PLM’s Teamcenter for SRM product. Capgemini will also provide integration services, tying Teamcenter for SRM with Siemens’ and third-party PLM and ERP platforms. And Capgemini will provide testing, data conversion, and change management services related to Teamcenter for SRM deployments.

Capgemini will also become a distributor of the Siemens PLM product, the two companies said in a statement.

Siemens PLM’s Teamcenter for SRM allows manufacturers to integrate separate product development and supplier management processes. The product includes collaboration tools that allow product development engineers and procurement managers to work together on specifying, at the design phase, parts and materials that should be included in new products. Siemens PLM claims that involving procurement departments and suppliers at the design inception and product development phases can result in significant cost reductions through lower material costs and improved on-time delivery.
