The service management software market today experienced another merger, as Servigistics acquired Kaidara, a maker of knowledge management software for companies engaged in post-sales service activities.
The two private companies had been partners since early 2008, when Servigistics began offering the Kaidara product under the Servigistics Service Knowledge Management name. Officials said the OEM relationship helped fill out the functional breadth of what Servigistics calls its service lifecycle management portfolio. Two years later, the company decided to bring Kaidara in-house for an undisclosed price.
Officials told Managing Automation today that the move was part of Servigistics’ evolving growth plan.
“Part of our growth strategy ever since June 2009, when Marlin Equity purchased Servigistics … is to acquire where there’s a strategic fit,” said Mark Vigoroso, Servigistics’ senior vice president of global marketing and alliances. Kaidara’s best-of-breed knowledge management software displayed those characteristics, he said.
