Sage North America yesterday expanded its manufacturing-oriented software portfolio with a product designed to enable small companies to manage their business and manufacturing operations at an affordable price.

The Peachtree by Sage–Quantum Manufacturing Edition software combines Sage’s accounting software and Manufacturing Information Systems, Inc.’s manufacturing management capabilities, according to a Sage spokeswoman. The integrated functionality includes inventory control, WIP tracking, multi-level bills of materials, multi-warehousing, and work orders, according to Sage’s announcement. The software, available from Sage and its Peachtree Certified Consultants, is aimed at manufacturers with as many as 250 employees, the company said, citing job shops, custom manufacturers, and make-to-order and make-to-stock manufacturers in industries such as electronics, medical devices, auto parts, and industrial equipment.

Such companies face myriad market challenges, Sage said, among them rising operational and material costs, increased competition from larger companies moving into their markets, and global competition. In addition, the prolonged economic downturn has made it more difficult to predict customer demand while requiring many companies to function with fewer employees.

“The new Peachtree Quantum Manufacturing Edition rounds out Sage’s manufacturing portfolio by providing a powerful solution … designed to help manufacturers address the many varied challenges they face daily to stay ahead of their competition,” said Connie Certusi, general manager or small business accounting solutions at Sage, in the statement.
