Enterprise applications leader SAP and PLM specialist Right Hemisphere today announced an agreement under which SAP will integrate into its manufacturing software Right Hemisphere’s Deep View technology, with the aim of delivering a more visual experience to workers on the assembly line.
SAP will integrate Deep View into the 7.1 version of the Complex Assembly Manufacturing Solution (CAMS) offering for aerospace and defense manufacturers. Deep View is a viewer technology in the mold of Adobe’s ubiquitous Reader application, allowing users throughout the manufacturing enterprise to view and interact with 2D and 3D data, regardless of their CAD or design software expertise.
The CAMS 7.1 product will benefit, for instance, from Deep View’s ability to display 3D animated work instructions for shop floor operators, a feature that could “accelerate shop floor assembly procedures and reduce errors,” the companies said.
“Integrating Right Hemisphere's advanced 3D viewer with the CAMS suite will enhance our solution by enabling business and visual data to flow harmoniously across the enterprise,” said Magnus Bjorendahl, global director, Aerospace & Defense solutions at SAP, in a statement.
