NEW YORK — SAP AG said today that it has teamed up with Sybase to enable SAP applications software to be accessed by users of iPhone, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile devices.

At a press conference here, the two companies said that SAP Business Suite applications would be available on mobile devices in the second half of this year following development and quality assurance work. They declined to provide specific pricing for the mobile technology.

Bill McDermott, president of SAP Global Field Operations and a member of the Executive Board, said the alliance with Sybase “will lay the foundation” for putting SAP applications in the hands of mobile users.

“The mobile enterprise worker is now the most important worker,” McDermott said, citing market statistics that claim there will be 1 billion mobile workers by 2013. Providing mobile access to business applications to enable people to stay connected to customers, suppliers, partners, and employees is necessary in order to meet this trend, he said.
