ORLANDO — Nearly three years after formally announcing its Business ByDesign software-as-a-service ERP product for mid-sized organizations, SAP said today that the product is now “ready” for the market.
“I’m announcing officially it is ready,” said Jim Hagemann Snabe, SAP co-CEO, during the company’s annual Sapphire user and partner meeting, held in Orlando and Frankfurt. “You can order now.”
Snabe’s declaration of the on-demand enterprise application’s market readiness follows many months of revisions to the product and its go-to-market strategy. Announced at a New York press conference on Sept. 19, 2007, Business ByDesign was described at the time as a “first edition” SaaS-based ERP product.
SAP set lofty goals for the new product: 10,000 new customers by 2010.
