SANTA CLARA, CA — Seeking to bring its vertical industry business process expertise to bear on business intelligence, enterprise applications leader SAP yesterday announced availability of 10 new pre-packaged analytics applications for consumer product manufacturers and other companies.

The new SAP BusinessObjects analytics applications, based on business intelligence (BI) tools from the company’s BusinessObjects unit, include pre-built dashboards, metrics, and reports designed to provide business process insights to a wide range of users, SAP said.

Just two of the 10 analytics applications unveiled by SAP yesterday are manufacturing-specific, and both of those are designed for makers of consumer products. One, SAP BusinessObjects On-Shelf Availability Analysis, allows consumer goods companies to track such things as the incidence and causes of out-of-stock problems. The other is SAP BusinessObjects Trade Promotion Effectiveness.

The eight other new analytics applications target banking, healthcare, retail, telecommunications, and public sector customers.
