Item-level RFID infrastructure provider TAGSYS this week announced the appointment of Alain Fanet as its new CEO. Fanet succeeds Bill Stuek, who remains with the company as chairman.
Fanet recently served as president of the European Tech Tour Association, an industry group that helps emerging technology companies expand into international markets. Fanet was also chief executive of Arteris, a semiconductor design firm he co-founded. Earlier, he was president of a high-performance network processing company called T.sqware, which he also co-founded.
“There is a tremendous untapped potential in the RFID value chain that TAGSYS will unlock with our strong technology portfolio and by reinforcing our commitment to strategic partnerships and alliances,” Fanet said in a statement.
Early in 2008, TAGSYS partnered with RFID reader specialist Sirit to rebrand a UHF fixed reader, based on Sirit’s Infinity 510 platform, initially for pharmaceutical and fashion apparel manufacturers. At the time, the companies said the partnership would eventually expand to include the integration of TAGSYS and Sirit products.
