Mid-market ERP vendor QAD Inc. today announced a new version of the QAD Enterprise Applications suite with an enhanced financial application, redefined user interface, and product information management capabilities that the company will soon fill out with its acquired FullTilt technology.

In QAD Enterprise Applications 2008, better usability was a high priority, the company said.

While business applications have historically been challenging to navigate, QAD said it built Enterprise Applications 2008 for a new generation of end users with different expectations for ease of use. QAD spent much of the past year watching the way people interact with its product. In response, the company’s engineers added flexible workflows and automation — through e-learning applications — to make the user experience as close to effortless as possible, officials said.

“The goal is to get to a situation where a user can perform a task simply, as well as learn the concepts around what they are doing,” said Gordon Fleming, QAD’s chief marketing officer, in an interview with Managing Automation.
