Oracle used its OpenWorld 2008 conference this week as a platform to unveil upgrades to its ERP offerings, while partners AT&T, Axeda, and Capgemini used the huge gathering in San Francisco to announce products and services in the areas of mobility, remote service management, and supply and demand planning.

Oracle announced upgrades to its JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP suite as well as the underlying application infrastructure, called EnterpriseOne Tools.

EnterpriseOne 9.0, the latest release, includes a new Project and Government Contract Accounting module geared toward engineering and construction and professional project-oriented services that must abide by U.S. government standards.

The module provides advanced project accounting integrated with an enterprise's general ledger to enable delivery of data for improved compliance and financial management. In addition, a new data relationship function assigns correct values to entered information. For example, data can be entered using customer-defined rules to help eliminate the possibility that inconsistencies, abbreviations, or incorrect spellings are captured.
