When Ci Technologies changed its name to Citect Inc. recently, it kicked off a strategic company initiative that extends beyond its engineering roots and SCADA software into worldwide enterprise solutions for industry verticals.
This month, the company will announce Citect FM, a customized facilities management product, with a version for the wastewater treatment and oil and gas markets rolling out later this year. The company will also bring out a downtime monitoring package and historian software this month.
These are more than just add-on extensions to its existing SCADA system and Plant2Business server platform. "We designed a library and a template that replicates what would be used in facilities management initiatives," says Gary Hopkins, president of the Americas division. Hopkins says the value is not just having a great software product, but having focused verticals and a services group for integration.
