New Webplan Chief Sets $100M Goal

Following his formal appointment last month as president and CEO of Webplan, Doug Colbeth outlined a plan for the manufacturing analysis software supplier to reach $100 million in revenue within three years. Colbeth had been named interim CEO in March to replace Michael Ker, who left the company. In an interview, Colbeth said his plan to grow Webplan from its current $15 million in size is based on striking partnerships with other software companies, which have yet to be named. His theory is that by coupling Webplan's analysis software (part of an emerging category called corporate performance management) with MES, PLM, ERP, and WMS packages, Webplan software will become a "pervasive part of manufacturing." "We allow better planning and decision making, which results in saving millions of dollars in inventory reduction," Colbeth says. "Once a lot of people are involved in monitoring and modeling corporate performance, companies will change the way they do manufacturing." Webplan 7, released last month, adds the ability to launch analysis models from an Excel spreadsheet.
