Product quality software purveyor SigmaQuest this week delivered another salvo in the drive to make software more intuitive to users, releasing a new application for tracking product quality that presents data graphically and helps users investigate root-cause analysis, the company said.

The new SigmaQuest Process Flow Visualization module, a component of the SigmaQuest Manufacturing & Test Insight application, features graphical charts that let users drill down into manufacturing and supply chain processes to monitor the quality of the products through root-cause analysis. The software is available now on demand.

Nader Fathi, president and CEO of SigmaQuest, told Managing Automation today that headset maker Plantronics is a typical customer of the PFV technology. With a monthly production run of 100,000 products spread across 10 factories worldwide, “looking at this [quality data] in tabular format is just not feasible” for Plantronics.

Fathi said SigmaQuest created PFV in response to a customer’s request for a high-level visual representation of manufacturing processes that could also deliver a quick path to root-cause analysis.
