Manufacturing execution system vendor Camstar today announced that it has acquired SigmaQuest, a purveyor of SaaS-based product quality software, in what Camstar officials portrayed as a marriage fit to address the increasing complexity of manufacturers’ global operations.
Camstar will incorporate the SigmaQuest software into its MES portfolio, which already includes some quality management functionality but does not trace product quality through the supply chain, instead focusing on a manufacturer’s internal operations.
The companies did not reveal the size of the transaction.
Since its founding in 2001, Silicon Valley-based SigmaQuest has focused its brand of business intelligence on the challenge of managing product quality, with the goal of helping manufacturers prevent quality issues from reaching the marketplace or, should that happen, assessing the root causes of returns and warranty claims when they reach the brand owner.
