Supply chain management software provider Logility today announced that it has acquired privately held Optiant, Inc. in a deal that will add inventory optimization tools to Logility’s Voyager software suite.
The $3.3 million takeover gives Logility a more robust optimization portfolio, officials said today. The company had built out its own optimization technology for sourcing, distribution, and transportation functions, but had not fully developed similar technology focused on inventory.
“Optiant consistently made our short list of companies that would be a good fit for us and the target markets served and the capabilities that their product portfolio delivers,” explained Karin Bursa, Logility’s VP of marketing, in an interview today.
Optiant was founded by two MIT Ph.D.s a decade ago and has cultivated customers across its target industries of consumer products, high tech, life sciences, and process and discrete manufacturing, including Black & Decker, Boston Scientific, Hewlett-Packard, Kraft, and Procter & Gamble.
