SAN ANTONIO — Seeking to help customers deploy enterprise applications as cloud-based services within their enterprises, Lawson Software on Monday rolled out what it calls Lawson Internal Cloud Services, consisting of application and middleware bundles plus a new virtual application management console tool.
The announcement of Internal Cloud Services follows Lawson’s rollout earlier this month of its ERP applications as services running on Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2).
The new Internal Cloud Services offering, unveiled at the company’s annual CUE customer conference here, will ultimately allow customers to deploy Lawson products as virtualized applications running on an internal cloud infrastructure.
That option would be most attractive to manufacturing customers with operations — and ERP deployments — in multiple global locations, said Jeff Comport, Lawson senior vice president of product management, at a briefing here. Using the new offering, such customers will be able to more easily and centrally test, deploy, consolidate, and update enterprise applications independent of the underlying hardware used to run their applications, he said.
