Lawson Software Inc. today said its enterprise search appliance has now been integrated with its M3 ERP suite, its flagship manufacturing product.
The Enterprise Search for Lawson M3 tool allows users to search for data generated by the M3 ERP suite using key words or numbers, in much the same way that consumers use Web-based search engines such as Google to find information on the Internet. The tool can search for unstructured data — such as comments attached to product information documents — as well as structured data such as order numbers or customer names.
The announcement of Enterprise Search for M3 follows Lawson’s rollout in May of Enterprise Search for S3, the company’s offering for service-based businesses. Five customers have licensed Enterprise Search for S3, said Lee Kilmer, Lawson’s global director of technology, in an interview with Managing Automation.
The M3 suite for manufacturers was added to Lawson’s stable of products when the company acquired Intentia in 2005.
