Hoping to tap into a heightened interest among manufacturers in retaining and developing workers with critical skill sets, Lawson Software today introduced a new release of its Talent Management Suite that includes enhanced integration, a learning and development module tailored for U.S. companies, and enhanced globalization features.

Lawson also introduced a new version of its M3 ERP suite for manufacturers that, among other things, includes a new module designed for apparel manufacturers.

The 3.3 version of Lawson’s 2-year-old Talent Management Suite is intended to respond to manufacturers’ concerns that, in eliminating jobs to survive the recession, they may have inadvertently lost critical skill sets that will be difficult and expensive to replace, said Lawson Industry Strategy Director for HCM Cecile Alper-Leroux.

“There are questions about, ‘Are we letting the right people go, and are we losing critical talent?’ ” said Alper-Leroux in an interview with Managing Automation. “They don’t want to let that happen again.”
