Supply chain management software vendor JDA Software Group Inc. today rolled out a logistics management application that incorporates advanced features from i2 and Manugistics, two supply chain software providers acquired by JDA over the past four years.

The new JDA Logistics Procurement application is a transportation and logistics planning and execution platform that helps manufacturers and logistics providers administer as well as manage logistics bids and contracts. The product is a superset of functionality that includes the i2-developed Transportation Bid Collaboration application and Manugistics’ Logistics Sourcing, JDA officials said.

Rollout of the converged JDA Logistics Procurement application comes less than a year after the completion of JDA’s acquisition of supply chain management rival i2. It “reinforces JDA’s commitment and ability to successfully deliver on our converged road-map objectives,” said JDA Chief Product Officer Raghav Keshav in a prepared statement.

In addition to combining logistics bid collaboration and contract management capabilities contained in the earlier i2 and Manugistics products, the new JDA Logistics Procurement app includes new features such as the ability to export bid optimization results into JDA’s transportation management system. The application also includes easier workflows and faster algorithms, according to JDA, allowing users to run smaller e-auction bid collaborations more frequently. The new application also has tools for carrier multi-modal bidding and optimized mode allocation by transportation lane, as well as enhanced diagnostics that can be used to quickly identify and resolve logistics network problems.
