HANNOVER, GERMANY — In a move that brings more potential for integrating shop floors to enterprise systems, ILS Technology said it has developed a version of its connectivity software for Siemens programmable logic controllers.

ILS CEO Fred Yentz said at the Manufacturing Executive Leadership Forum, a conference organized by Managing Automation Media here at the annual Hannover Fair, that ILS is now making its deviceWISE Embedded Edition available for the Siemens S7-300 family of Simatic PLCs.

Yentz said the new Siemens version of deviceWISE further enhances the ability to connect “disparate technologies” and bring a “common workbench and common user experience” to manufacturers.

DeviceWISE software supports data communications from shop floor devices such as PLCs and RFID tags to a variety of enterprise software and databases from vendors including SAP, Oracle, IBM, and Microsoft.
