IT software, hardware, and services giant IBM Corp. today revealed a new a slate of industry-focused offerings, including new software for information insight and asset management, as well as a product-service bundle tailored to manufacturers in the aerospace and defense, automotive, and electronics industries.

IBM announced the three new offerings at its Smarter Industry Symposium in Barcelona. They are aligned with the company’s “framework” concept, which delivers bundles of software, services, and IT hardware aimed at addressing specific business challenges in specific industries.

The IBM Product and Service Framework is the latest addition to the company’s framework portfolio, and is tailored to aerospace and defense, automotive, and electronics manufacturers. It is designed to “allow businesses to create and deploy new products and services for their customers,” IBM said in a statement, as well as “enhance their relationships with vendors and partners to design and deliver products in a more efficient and cost-effective way.”

The Product and Service Framework calls on software, hardware, and services from across the IBM portfolio to help manufacturers improve their product innovation; operations and supply chain; and marketing, sales, and service processes. Specifically, IBM says the framework can speed up product development efforts by integrating software with mechanical and electronics tools. On the operational front, the offering is geared to help manufacturers anticipate and capitalize on varying customer demand. And at the tail end of the manufacturing process, the Product and Service Framework is said to help companies “capture new growth markets [and] support new business and service models.” An IBM representative did not return calls requesting details on which IBM technologies are included in the bundle.
