Siemens PLM Software and Hewlett-Packard today announced a significant expansion of their 25-year partnership under which, for the first time, HP will resell Siemens’ product lifecycle management software.

Under the deal, unveiled at the Hannover Fair trade show, HP and Siemens will jointly sell Siemens PLM software, HP services, and industry-specific PLM-based applications to large enterprise customers globally.

The deal is a first for both HP and Siemens PLM. While HP has partnerships with other PLM software providers, including Dassault Systèmes and PTC, it does not resell their software, said Oliver Bahns, executive director of HP’s automotive and aerospace sales, in an interview with Managing Automation. Instead, he said, HP provides its application management and other enterprise services to those companies’ customers.

Similarly, while Siemens PLM partners with other IT service providers, including IBM and Tata Technologies, those partners do not resell Siemens PLM software, said Kerry Grimes, vice president for global solutions partner sales at Siemens PLM.
