Catering to a “work local, think global” mind-set, GE Intelligent Platforms rolled out a new version of its operations management software that fine-tunes manufacturing intelligence for multi-national companies.

The Proficy Plant Applications version 5 manufacturing software includes more user interface options, support for multiple time zones, and language translation that includes “local lingo,” all of which can be integrated into other plant floor and enterprise applications for a holistic view of global operations.

In addition, the new system performance features include multi-threading and control over event manager modules; integration with Proficy SOA and Proficy WorkFlow for guided interaction with people and systems; and new display components for iFix WebSpace, a browser-based HMI client for viewing operations.

Proficy Plant Apps is a suite of software that enables tracking and optimizing operating efficiency, product and process quality, environmental and safety compliance, schedule execution, WIP inventory, genealogy and traceability, and more. And a key aspect of Plant Apps is its manufacturing intelligence module, which enables real-time integration of KPIs across the various aspects of manufacturing operations, the company said.
