SARASOTA, FL — On the eve of Managing Automation’s fifth annual Progressive Manufacturing Summit here, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist made a special appearance to welcome Summit attendees and to urge them to live and work in the Sunshine State.

Crist, who recently announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate, touted what he characterized as Florida’s hospitable business climate, particularly its tax structure, to the manufacturers attending the MA Summit at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Sarasota.

“Florida is one of the most business-friendly states in the country,” the governor said. “We understand that the business of America is business.”

The theme of the MA Progressive Manufacturing Summit this year is, in fact, “Redefining the Business of Manufacturing.” The two and one-half day conference and awards program will cover a number of economic, business, and technology trends affecting manufacturers this recession year.
