BOSTON — Supply chain management (SCM) specialist Emptoris Inc., a purveyor of supply and contract management software, this week introduced a turnkey version of its flagship product that it said is easy to install behind the firewall.
At its annual Empower conference here, the company also announced partnerships said to enable tighter integration with internal enterprise applications as well as external data, and will add new reporting capabilities to the company’s suite of spend analysis, sourcing, contract management, risk analysis, and service procurement software.
Emptoris Echos, announced today, is not a product but a software delivery service that the company said brings the ease of use associated with cloud computing to an on-premise deployment. Echos, which stands for Emptoris Cloud Hosting Operation System, was developed a year ago to get users of the company’s on-demand software quickly up and running in the Emptoris data center. Now, Emptoris is extending the platform to customers for use behind their firewalls, the company said.
Echos includes a pre-configured version of the Emptoris software suite that is ready to run on premises with just a few clicks. While many customers prefer to run the Emptoris software on premises, those customers have not always welcomed the burden on their IT staff, who must configure, maintain, and upgrade the applications.
