Following up an earlier reorganization of its five business units under one corporate executive, Computer Associates International said it has formed a division to provide business application integration products and services using such technologies as its Unicenter software.
Reuven Battat will head the new division, called interBiz Solutions, as president. Computer Associates says interBiz will leverage and consolidate the resources and competencies of the five CA application business units-Acacia Technologies, MK Group, Portico, ACCPAC International, and Prestige Software International-placed under Battat's direction earlier this year.
The goals of the new division, CA said, are to help customers "capitalize on e-commerce opportunities" as well as integrate various business applications. In developing its BizWorks business-management framework, CA will use its Unicenter TNG enterprise management software, Jasmine, Opal, 3-D visualization, and Neugents neural network pattern recognition technology.
"We are trying to take the strengths we have in the business units and core competencies and build a business-management framework that will serve as the glue to integrate diverse applications," Battat says. --David R. Brousell
