CDC Software today rolled out a new product lifecycle management (PLM) module for its Ross Enterprise ERP software product, targeted at process manufacturers attempting to cope with rising material costs and regulatory requirements.

The module is based on the DevEX PLM platform from PLM software provider Selerant. CDC Software will sell the DevEX product to its Ross customers as Ross PLM, said Jack Payne, CDC’s vice president of enterprise software, in an interview with Managing Automation. CDC will also support customers that purchase the PLM modules.

CDC has enhanced the DevEX product by adding integration to the Ross ERP platform. That integration allows manufacturers, for example, to bring material cost information from Ross ERP into Ross PLM to calculate formula costs. The integration also allows information about approved formulas to be returned to Ross ERP, Payne said.

Although CDC has actively built out its ERP portfolio via acquisition in recent years, the Selerant partnership is the first introduction of PLM functionality to the Ross ERP platform, according to Payne.
