Computer Associates International has reorganized its independent business unit (IBU) structure and has named Reuven Battat, an executive vice president, to oversee all IBUs, including Acacia Technologies and the MK Group.
CA, which executives say is trying to leverage its technology better corporate wide, is now calling the IBUs application business units. John McCarron, senior vice president and general manager of Acacia, says that Acacia and the other business units will continue to operate as they had before. "Structurally, there is no difference," he says. "But CA has a lot of exciting technology. The idea is to leverage it in our products and do it faster."
Predictive maintenance, neural networking, and agent technologies are possible candidates for broader application within the CA family, says Ken Ramoutar, vice president of marketing worldwide for Acacia. In December of last year, CA announced Neugents, a neural networking technology that provides analysis and predictive capabilities.
