Computer Associates International last month took another step in its rapidly evolving e-commerce strategy, combining Acacia Technologies and MK Group into a business unit under the newly formed interBiz Solutions Division, whose charter is application integration and electronic commerce.
The new unit is called interBiz Supply Chain Group. CA said the names Acacia and MK Group have been eliminated as part of the combination. Heading the new unit is John J. McCarron, formerly senior vice president and general manager of Acacia.
"We are in the ERP business, but we own all the pieces," McCarron said in an interview. "We have the makings of being able to [provide] a one-package offering in what we see as an emerging and booming market. One of our goals is to become a world leader in supply chain logistics."
The group will seek to join the technologies of Acacia and MK with CA's new BizWorks application integration framework, which also includes core CA technologies such as Unicenter, Jasmine, and Neugents. McCarron says that he's looking to bring an offering to market "in a relatively short time frame."
