Alien Technology Files to go Public

Alien Technology Corp., a major maker of radio frequency identification (RFID) tags and readers, has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering (IPO) of approximately $120 million in common stock. At press time, a date for the offering had not yet been set. Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. is acting as book-running manager for the offering. Alien supplies tags and readers to many users and suppliers of RFID technology and holds a Blanket Purchase Agreement from the U.S. Department of Defense for its ALR-9770 series multi-protocol reader.
