Adexa Inc., a developer of collaborative supply chain management software, has signed a co-marketing agreement with IBM Global Services, renamed its software suite, and has disclosed a major contract with Maytag. The announcements were made last month at a Boston press conference, the first major event held since its $340 million merger with FreeMarkets was called off last spring. Company officials emphasized that a new Adexa has emerged, one with an improved product and a greater determination to succeed. "You've seen today a mea culpa," said Darryl Praill, senior VP of marketing. "We are going to execute better." The IBM agreement calls for common sales and training activities and the integration of Adexa's product with a variety of IBM products, including DB2 and the WebSphere line. For Adexa, the agreement extends its reach, particularly in the mid-market. "This is a huge dimension added to Adexa," said Adexa chairman and chief executive officer Cyrus Hadavi. Adexa's iCollaboration suite was renamed Enterprise Global Planning System (eGPS) and has had added to it financial analytic and event management and analytic functions, both through OEM deals. The Maytag deal covers 12 plants. Implementation is expected to start this month. Hadavi said that he expects Adexa to have "modest" growth this year. "The company is geared for profitability, and we will accomplish that at the latest in Q3," he said.
