Edgecore Networks'' TigerSwitch Managed Layer 2 Switches with PoE (SMC8126PL2-F and SMC6152PL2) Enable Easy Deployment of IP-based PoE Devices such as Phones, Cameras and Wireless Access Points

NEW YORK, Nov. 17 /-- Edgecore Networks, Inc., a global manufacturer of application-driven performance networking solutions, today announced the expansion of its line of its workgroup infrastructure solutions with the addition of two power-over-Ethernet (PoE) enabled managed Layer 2 switches at Interop New York 2009 (booth #531).

Delivering on the company''s promise to build a more expansive and integrated line of workgroup solutions, Edgecore Networks is expanding its Tiger line of PoE-supported managed switches including the 61-series, a managed Fast Ethernet switch family available in 10-, 28-, 50-, and 52-port versions, and the 81-series family of 24-, 26- and 50-port managed Gigabit switches.

"Both Fast and Gigabit Ethernet switches in this family expand our entry-level managed switch portfolio and provide our resellers with the opportunity to expand their margins and service capabilities with robust solutions that are fully managed and can be accessed onsite or securely from offsite," said Keith Alexis, General Manager of Edgecore Networks.

According to Alexis, these new models cluster for easier management under a single IP and, given the rich feature sets and competitive price points, provide a significant competitive advantage over the use of Smart switches for channel partners that expect to add service and applications and grow networks at some point in their customers'' lifecycles. "We''re giving our resellers the tools to support their customers based upon the customers'' unique environments. If they only need Fast Ethernet, that''s fine, but when applications and data demands increase, they can migrate seamlessly to GigE with no retraining, near zero infrastructure architecture change, simple installation, and quick Return on Investment (ROI). Our solutions serve to enhance our channel partners'' image giving them the ability to migrate a small fast Ethernet network of 10 ports to a Gigabit level network of 1,500 ports with no retraining, enabling them to manage the expanded network using the same single IP Cluster scheme, and delivering Green technology with proven TOC."

The new switches join the popular TigerSwitch(TM) family of switches which has delivered robust, reliable, value-packed networking infrastructure solutions to the industry since 1992. The standalone 26-Port Gigabit Managed Layer 2 Switch with Full Power PoE (SMC8126PL2-F) provides wire speed 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet switching with 802.3af PoE support, up to 375 watts total power, on all 26 ports. The SMC8126PL2-F epitomizes Edgecore''s commitment to green networking by delivering Gigabit speeds while enjoying a low power consumption of only 36 watts (without PoE operating).

The high-density Fast Ethernet TigerSwitch 48-Port Managed Layer 2 Switch with PoE and Four Gigabit Ports (SMC6152PL2) supports 802.3af PoE on all 48 10/100 ports and incorporates four 10/100/1000BASE-T ports which provide enhanced uplink capabilities for greater throughput. Both easy-to-manage switches support IP clustering enabling up to 32 units to be managed from a single IP address.

"Edgecore is dedicated to delivering to market network infrastructure solutions that provide users with a critical combination of performance, ease-of-use, functionality, and value, and these new edge solutions bring all of these aspects to the end user," explained Iain Kenney, Director of Product Marketing at Edgecore Networks. "The new switches are feature-rich, future-proof, manageable solutions that are ideal for workgroup environments that require scalability, reliability and ease-of management solution to support advanced applications such as Internet telephony and video conferencing."

About TigerSwitch 10/100/1000 Standalone 26-Port Managed Layer 2 Switch with Full Power PoE (SMC8126PL2-F)

The SMC8126PL2-F features 24 10/100/1000BASE-T ports and six SFP transceiver slots which support SX, LX and ZX SFP. The feature-rich PoE switch, which supports up to 15.4 watts on each of the 24 10/100/1000 ports, enables the deployment of PoE-enabled devices such as VoIP phones, IP cameras and wireless access points without the need to run separate power lines. The software supporting the PoE function provides configurable prioritization and the ability to enable/disable individual ports.
