Software-as-a-service provider NetSuite Inc. has entered the manufacturing requirements planning (MRP) market through a partnership with The Danville Group Inc., a company recently formed by former executives of ERP software provider Relevant Business Systems.

The two companies recently rolled out Rootstock MRP for NetSuite, a SaaS-based MRP offering that is delivered via NetSuite’s SuiteCloud computing platform and interoperates with NetSuite modules, such as financials, purchase order processing, and sales order management.

The move adds NetSuite to the growing list of vendors providing SaaS-based MRP and manufacturing applications. Others include SAP, Glovia, and Plex.

It also marks NetSuite’s first significant foray into manufacturing software. While the company recently added support for light assembly processes and claims SuiteCloud partners such as 7Hills Business Solutions, NetSuite, until now, has not offered software for managing core manufacturing functions.
