Q: What were the most important BI/performance management trends in 2009?

A: In 2009, two trends were quite apparent:

1. Business owners have become leading participants in BI/PM program decisions. In the past, business requested and IT delivered. Now, they’re in there with IT, rolling up their sleeves to move decisions forward.

2. Data issues continue to be at the root of many BI/PM problems. Master data management is now part of every discussion I have, and it’s increasingly difficult to separate the two. Business owner ownership is also necessary to wrestle these issues to the ground.
