Managers and employees at Batesville Casket Co. know all about the kind of dedication and effort it takes to continually find ways to improve safety and efficiency.
Over the past several years, the maker of metal and hardwood burial caskets has exemplified the spirit of Progressive Manufacturing by putting in place a series of programs to achieve greater production efficiency and employee safety. In the past three years, in fact, seven such Batesville Casket projects have received Progressive Manufacturing awards.
The company’s dogged pursuit of process improvement this year resulted in its being presented with the Progressive Manufacturing Editors’ Choice award, introduced this year.
Two projects, in particular, were cited in the award. The company, located in Batesville, IN, recently embarked on what it called the Interior Re-Roller and the Automate Parts Staple projects to improve and automate the efficiency of its manufacturing processes. Not only did the projects eliminate potential ergonomic repetitive motion injuries, but they also improved safety and reduced costs.
