EDS PLM Solutions has rolled out a 2003 road map for a series of new product lifecycle management (PLM) products to be focused on specific business processes as well as on particular vertical industry domains--all of which will be built on its Teamcenter foundation.
The new modular series is being touted by EDS PLM Solutions as providing customers with a "fast to value" approach for implementing PLM. "We're bringing together our consulting expertise and best practices in targeted solutions to assure clients a rapid return on their PLM investment," said Tony Affuso, president of EDS PLM Solutions, in a prepared statement.
The new business process initiatives address the needs of five key corporate functions: product and portfolio planning; product development; digital manufacturing; in-service support; and creating a collaboration platform for total lifecycle knowledge management.
EDS PLM Solutions also announced industry-specific offerings, including a version for the consumer packaged goods industry built with partner The Procter & Gamble Co., and which will be available in the first quarter along with Teamcenter Automotive Supplier and Teamcenter High Tech Electronics. Teamcenter Aerospace and Defense, built with the help of Northrop Grumman Corp., is available immediately.
