Sterling Commerce this week introduced a pair of mobile applications that allow administrators to monitor and manage integration and file transfer systems from their iPhones.

The new tools, Sterling Integrator Mobile and Sterling Control Center Mobile, are part of a strategy to mobile-enable many of Sterling’s business-to-business and supply chain management applications. Last month, the company added new mobile extension to its Selling and Fulfillment Suite to address functions such as order management, logistics, and supply chain visibility.

The new Sterling Integrator Mobile allows administrators managing the Sterling Integrator B2B gateway to monitor the system remotely from an iPhone. Similarly, the new Sterling Control Center Mobile application lets administrators manage the Sterling Managed File Transfer system from an iPhone.

Using the new mobile applications, administrators are able to see a subset of information they normally access from the on-premise PCs and workstations that are typically used to manage the B2B gateway and file transfer systems. Through the iPhone, users can receive alerts, status updates, and dashboards that summarize system performance. They cannot view more detailed system network analysis from the iPhone, said Ken Ramoutar, Sterling vice president for industry marketing.
