Psion Teklogix Inc., a global provider of mobile computing software, is offering an upgrade of its device management software, Mobile Control Center, which lets users manage mobile devices remotely.
Due to become available this month, the MCC version 6.03 includes location services, allowing GPS-based devices — both Psion Teklogix and non-Psion devices — to be located and tracked in real time, and data to be collected for future analysis. For example, users can collect data on battery status, GPS location, and WiFi signal strength.
The client/server mobile device management software enables customers to perform hands-off updates of wireless devices located anywhere in the enterprise, the company said in its upgrade announcement. In addition to using the software for troubleshooting and repairs, companies can use it to facilitate software installations or updates over WLAN or WWAN networks or to centrally modify user rights and other settings. The benefits, according to the company, include improved operational efficiency and lower operation and support costs.
United States Cold Storage, a refrigerated warehousing company, has selected the MCC software to monitor, manage, and support 1,040 mobile device units used in more than 30 sites.
