Preactor International, a purveyor of planning and scheduling software, this week launched a new version of its flagship product that includes an updated user interface and a range of functional enhancements, from reporting to materials management.

The new look and feel of the Preactor 11 interface allows the user to move quickly among different areas of the system, the company said, as this latest version provides multiple ways of quickly accessing, interrogating, and editing data.

Preactor 11 offers data reports that can either be ”local” or presented as a ”server,” which allows them to be viewed remotely via an Internet browser, even when Preactor is not active. In addition, more schedule analysis reports bring business intelligence capabilities to the everyday user, according to Preactor.

The latest version of the advanced planning and scheduling software also includes Materials Explorer, a new tool that provides an interactive, material-centric view of a manufacturer’s production schedule. In addition, the Material Flow Diagram represents an order via a graphical display of the materials involved in manufacturing, as well as any related orders that are supplying or consuming materials. A planner can navigate various order links to track material flow through the production process, according to Preactor. The functionality is intended to help users manage material shortages or changing order priorities.
