Pharma Leaders Emphasize OEE

A new benchmark study released by manufacturing intelligence vendor Informance International reveals the operational best practices of the top 50 pharmaceutical companies.

These companies, facing expiring patents and price pressure from generics and FDA initiatives, have had to focus on operational excellence, including better utilization of plant assets, people, and materials.

Key findings of the report show that best-in-class pharmaceutical manufacturers exhibit 87% more availability than laggard performers; they reduce loss due to changeover at a factor of four times greater than laggards; and they attribute 7% of lost capacity to equipment failure vs. laggards, which experience 26% of capacity loss due to equipment failure.
