Oracle Corp. this week said it will acquire AmberPoint Inc. , a 9-year-old provider of software for managing services-oriented architecture (SOA) environments.

Oracle, in a prepared statement, said it will use the AmberPoint products to extend Oracle’s Fusion Middleware set of products, including its Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle SOA Governance, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Oracle said it expects the acquisition to close in the first half of this year.

AmberPoint’s AmberPoint Governance and AmberPoint Management Systems are used to monitor, diagnose, and resolve performance problems affecting SOA middleware systems that are often used to integrate multiple software systems. AmberPoint’s run-time governance engine, in particular, will fill a gap that has existed in Oracle’s Enterprise Manager product.
