With its latest release, search application specialist Endeca Technologies looks to better integrate manufacturers’ new product development efforts.

The Endeca Manufacturing Suite, with its embedded Design for Supply 2.0 application, aims to interlace upstream and downstream processes in a manufacturing organization, allowing engineers to select the right product components up front and thus minimize costs later in the production cycle.

In conjunction with its two other search tools — Warranty Analysis and Spend Analysis — the Manufacturing Suite helps “global engineering, sourcing, quality, and warranty departments better collaborate across the value chain,” the company said in a statement.

Specifically, the Design for Supply 2.0 tool provides what Endeca refers to as attribute analysis across data silos, all with the goal of helping product designers select the best parts for their designs. The tool differentiates itself from PLM, SCM, and other enterprise search technologies by allowing “point-and-click exploration of fully integrated data from across the supply chain on a large scale, updating dynamically as preferences and needs change.”
